Psychologists and neuroscientists suggest that our perception of the "present moment"—known as the specious present—lasts about 2.5 to 3 seconds. This brief window is the span in which our brain processes and experiences the immediate "now" before it fades into memory. Beyond this short period, our conscious awareness shifts toward anticipation, making anything beyond three seconds feel like the future. Conceptually, the future begins just after this limit—around four seconds—where new possibilities, decisions, and actions emerge.
